PEDIATRIC THERAPY SPECIALISTS OF ATLANTA
Providing In-Home Speech Therapy Since 2002
WHAT IS SPEECH THERAPY?
Children may need speech therapy if they are having difficulty understanding others or expressing themselves, struggling with sound production, or difficulty with feeding or swallowing. Speech therapists work with children using verbal and non-verbal forms of communication through spoken words, gestures, or Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC). Speech therapists can help children increase intelligibility through the production of sounds. Speech therapists may also help with oral motor control or feeding and swallowing skills.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
You can expect a comprehensive assessment of current skills to determine a plan of care to meet your child’s needs. After an assessment, care will be provided in your home on a one to one basis. Once a child demonstrates progress with a targeted skill, home programming will be discussed to aide with the transfer of skills. Areas assessed and treated include sound production (articulation), language, oral-motor, feeding, and swallowing skills.
